As the nation approaches the presidential election, the many issues that the nation cares about are all on the table and the tops of most of our minds. We all know God puts things on our hearts and our minds when He wants us to do something about them, but often, when issues larger than ourselves are on our hearts, we turn to other sources for help. While those other sources can be good and effective in providing solutions, nothing can replace the Lord. Just as when our hearts are heavy with personal issues, when they are heavy with national issues, we should lift them up in prayer first. Jesus said, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” Today, if your heart is heavy by issues in the world, take them to God first.
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7 ESV
