Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story that is truly a “walk by faith, not by sight” sort of moment. Two young men, Tre Jones and Marcus Harvey, in Marion, Indiana are being hailed as heroes for saving a man from his burning home. That day, they noticed a home on fire and people filming it with their phones. They ran over and could hear screams from inside, so they both immediately jumped into action. Jones kicked down the door and ran through what he described as a “little funnel” in the smoke and fire to get to the man. He dragged him out where he was met by the firefighters just arriving. Harvey said of the rescue, “As we’re coming out of the house, we can’t see anything but only thing I can sit there and tell you, if you believe in God, mysterious things will happen. He was there the whole entire time showing us the way out.” Harvey’s experience was one where he physically could not see but God showed him the way out; however, it truly shows what God does for us when we can’t see what to do next in our lives.
We all know the verse, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” For many of us, it is a reminder of God’s presence in our lives when we cannot see Him acting upon it; however, it is truly a real way of life because when we stay focused on serving the Lord, we can trust that the right steps will be revealed to us at the right time. We are all in a place today where the future is harder to see that ever before, but God does not call us to see our futures – He calls us to trust Him each day. We can trust that our future is in secure hands when we choose to trust God each day. Today, let go of your stress about the future and just trust God today, tomorrow, and each single day going forward.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
