Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a simple but inspiring story of one young man who sacrificed a little bit of his time in order to help an elderly woman – and ended up making a new friend in the process! In downtown Houston, TX this time of year, it can get unbearably hot. It was such a day recently when Louis Jordan noticed an elderly woman sitting on a bench waiting for the bus with the blazing sun beating down on her. Louis did what many of us might think to do, but most of us would not because we do not want to give up some of our own time. Louis grabbed his umbrella and stood next to the woman until the bus came, shading her from the sun. While they waited together, they laughed and chatted and have become good friends!

Every decision we make each day steers our life in a certain direction. We all have a goal of the kind of life we wish to live, and most of us are focused on a certain path to get there. But God has so much more in store for us in life when we focus on His path instead of our own. In Psalms, it says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” When we take a step out the path we think we must walk into the path God has laid out for us, we find God’s presence and His “fullness of joy.” Today, allow God to steer your steps towards Him and experience the fullness of joy that accompanies Him.
